Workers Claim Brinderson Forcing Employees to Sign-Up with Phony Union

Is Brinderson Construction up to no good again? It appears so. The LA/OC Building & Construction Trades Council has been receiving calls claiming that the company has formed an alliance with the phony, sham union the International Union of Petroleum & Industrial Workers (iupiw aka A-SCAM!) and is threatening employees with termination if they don’t join! Some say the iupiw owners do whatever the companies want and have been charged with fraud by the federal government for selling bogus health plans. Is this just another attempt by Brinderson to block the voice of the workers? Will enough employees’ come forward to thwart Brinderson’s desperate attempt? Let’s hope so.

Here’s what the workers can do:

Sign a Representation Card with a legitimate labor organization so they can negotiate a strong contract

Refuse membership in the phony IUPIW

File a complaint with the National Labor Relations Board for an election to cancel the IUPIW contract

This company has an impeccable record and puts employees and safety first. Lets get the facts before we condemn. I smell a rat and it doesn't seem to be coming from Brinderson.

Maybe employees shouldnt depend on their companies to give them everything they need in life. Then perhaps Brinderson could pay you more, and then you could go buy your own insurance for a low rate. You should see who the unions are really in bed with and where your money really goes and what their cause really is. Get smart people, depend on yourself and let the market afford you quality health care and quit trying to make someone else responsible for you life.

Unions?? Are we still in the 30's? If the people would grow out of the whole idea of unions the individual would be a lot farther ahead in life. Get hip guys. Ditch the union, work for yourself.

I work for Brinderson and from my observations they are puting out a big effort to help employees, They do pay overtime for hours worked over 8 and they have a team focused on revamping their benifiets which the insurance is a little spendy but it is good and they are working on getting rates without a negative effect on benifiets. They are very focused on safty in the work place. Every company can have a couple of bad apples but it does not mean you should cut down the whole tree. I left a large oil company to come to work for Brinderson and I would do it again if given the option. I give them 8 hours work for 8 hours pay and I am very happy.

I worked for Brinderson at the Chevron Pro+ FCC Unit project in El Segundo. As someone else said, they don't pay you overtime after 8 hrs. They pay you overtime after 40 hrs. It looks like their timekeeper or their payroll administrator has not been educated on california employment law that states that an employee should be paid overtime for any time worked in excess of 8 hrs on a regural work day. Another thing that I experienced is that many times they wont pay you the right hrs you worked, in it could go on for weeks where they'd short pay you a few hrs every week, i'm talkin anywhere from 2 to 10 hrs every week. If you bring it up to their attention they will say they'll add them to your next check, and when the next check comes around nothing is there, and they just keep giving you the run around. I dealt with Mike Weaver and he is a fucking moron. He is the one that would tell you that your hrs will be added to your next check, and when you go to him after one week and let him know that your unpaid hrs were not added to your most recent check he will give you the same shit "Give me a copy of your paystub and we'll add yout hrs to your next check". I bet you his check is never wrong. And if you ask hime to have the timekeeper process a manual check for your owed time he'll say no. The only people i found respectful while I worked there were Joe Leblanc, Daniel Ross and safety man JD. Paul Farrell was a fucking asshole too.
