Email Statement of President Paula E. Peinovich of National Labor College/George Meany Center

Statement of President Paula E. Peinovich, PhD

National Labor College
April 9, 2012

National Labor College (NLC) is open for business. The College’s educational programs are continuing without interruption. Students’ online courses, support services,  and registration processes are continuing. The College is working hard to continue its core mission of educating union workers and their families, now and in the future.

The College’s Board of Trustees has made difficult decisions to refocus on the College’s core mission. The Board has approved a plan to offer for sale the campus in Silver Spring, MD and to stop operating the Kirkland Conference Center and the George Meany Memorial Archives by August 31, 2012. We anticipate that the College will remain on the campus at least until such time as the property is sold.

These decisions were not made lightly. We recognize that these changes will have a significant impact on the College community. We pledge to work to ease any necessary transition in the coming months.

We will continue to keep all informed of any further decisions made by National Labor College.
Thank you for your patience and support throughout this process.
